There is this house, that I mentioned before (the one we peeked in the windows), that has been for sale for a long time. The price has come down, it's currently in short sale, and it may go into foreclosure. I drive past this house a lot, because it's on one of my favorite streets. There are other ways to get to the places I need to go, but I often go down the street where this house lives, just to enjoy the view. Are there streets like that where you live? Sigh.
A couple weeks ago, we asked our realtor to show us this house. Here are a few of the inside photos I took. This place is enormous.

The first thing you see when you walk through the (beautiful) door is this. Hello. Need I say more? Well, okay... Also...
Looking back at the front door. Check out the leaded glass around the door (which opens to a charming big front porch, great front yard, corner lot...).
Left through the foyer is the living room. Although this house needs some serious money to fix it up, the floors are not one of the places it needs help. They are in perfect shape throughout. I could kiss them, they are so lovely.
This is the dining room, connected to the living room through these amazing leaded glass french doors. The view out the window on the right is a tree at least as old as this house. The tree trunk has to be over 5 feet wide. If it could, it would have stories to tell.
And now, back to the foyer. Like the floors, the carpet you see here, and in the upstairs hallway is also in immaculate condition, amazingly.

From the top of the stairs, looking down. That's pressed tin on the lower half of the wall on the right. And it's not really visible here, but that's a huge window on the left, with another phenomenal view of trees and the cute house next door.
Many of the walls are curved, as you can see above. And there's lots of neat built-in cabinets and drawers. The upstairs hallway is also nice and wide. It feels like an awesome bed and breakfast.

So what's the problem? This place looks like IT. Well...
It's still really expensive. And like I said, this is only a small portion of the house. It's over 5,000 square feet. The kitchen needs to be gutted, and a whole new kitchen put in. It's that bad. Not to mention possible plumbing problems, and the lack of insulation in the whole house. The attic (cute thought it may be!) is completely finished too, so there's no insulation there either. Can you say, heating costs?!
But I can't stop thinking about it. What's going to happen with this place? Is there a way that some day it could be our bed & breakfast??? Hey, you never know. It could happen...
