I don't remember when it started exactly, but I've been dreaming about owning a gluten-free bed & breakfast for a while now. And I mean literally dreaming, while I'm asleep, not just daydreaming. That's how it started. Then I woke up and I remembered my dream: The Brozyna family owns and runs a gluten-free bed & breakfast. A place where we can live and work, a place where Zoe and Ashley can work when they grow up, if they want. A place where people can come and stay and eat some awesome gluten-free food.
My dream is that we own a historic house in downtown Longmont. We live in Longmont now, and we love it, but our house is not big enough for our out-of-town family to stay when they visit, let alone B & B guests. There is however, a historic house in town, just minutes from where we are now, that would be perfect. It has plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms, and it's on one of my favorite tree lined streets.
This house is empty, so today Andrew, Zoe, Ashley and I peeked in the windows. Let me paint you a picture. It's a historic brick house with a front porch, surrounded by trees as old as the house itself. There is leaded glass around the inviting front door, and leaded glass french doors inside as well between the living and dining rooms. The hardwood floors throughout are in perfect condition, the ceilings are soaring high, and there is big beautiful moulding and trim around all the doors and windows. There is a nice open foyer with the kind of wooden staircase you imagine in a historic inn, and a study off to the right.
We couldn't see upstairs of course, but oh how I would love to design each bedroom. Then I would have fresh flowers for guests, and a lovely gluten-free breakfast for them too. I could even pack them a sweet picnic basket of gluten-free lunch if they requested it for day-trips while they're staying with us. Although it wouldn't be necessary here in Colorado. I would give them a list of all the gluten-free restaurants in every town within driving distance. Want to go hiking? Here is a map to our favorite trails with all the best places to eat gluten-free nearby also marked on the map. Feel like exploring a nearby city, shopping, or going to a museum? That sounds like a place I would like to stay. A charming family owned historic bed and breakfast with gluten-free breakfast included (and lunch upon request) in a sweet little town close to everything imaginable: Gluten-free restaurants, shopping, hiking, biking, swimming, museums, Rocky Mountain National Park, Estes Park, Boulder, Denver, you name it! Tell us what you're in the mood for, we've got it all here!
And now that I've written down my dream, it's sure to come true, like it did with us moving to Colorado in the first place. :-)
Hi! I'm Kelly B, and that's my husband, Andrew B, and our two daughters, Zoe B, on the right, and Ashley B, on the left. We are a family of Bs. When the girls were babies, we gave them the pet name of Baby B. "B" for our last name, Brozyna, and "B" like the bee. We've always had an appreciation for bees, without whom we wouldn't have most of the foods we eat. Now that the girls are a little older we call them Zoe B and Ashley B, or just B for short.
